What is Oneworld Airline Alliance?

An airline alliance is an agreement between two or more airlines to cooperate on a substantial level for mutual benefit for both the airlines as well as their passengers. The current 3 largest passenger airline alliances are the Star Alliance, SkyTeam and Oneworld.
The Oneworld Alliance was found in 1999 and the second big airline alliance founded after Star Alliance as a next step against the other big alliance. With a strong base airlines like British Airways and American Airlines it was clear the Oneworld Alliance would be a success. With their slogan "Oneworld revolves around you... " the Oneworld Alliance and its dedicated members put this into reality every single day. Almost every year new leading airlines from all over the world joining the Oneworld alliance. In 2012 Air Berlin from Germany joined the alliance. Oneworld alliance is very careful with allowing new members and therefor the alliance is smaller, but more elite than other airline alliances. Alliances also form between cargo airlines, such as that of WOW Alliance, SkyTeam Cargo and ANA/UPS Alliance, but they are less interesting for regular customers and frequent flyers so we will not go into it.

Oneworld is the 3rd largest airline alliance with British and American Roots from British Airways and American Airlines.
